FACHARZT
Facharzt in Moorfields Eye Hospital in London und wurde Mitglied des Royal College of Ophthalmologists in London. Dank einer systematischen und streng überwachten Lehre sammelt Dr. Sciscio eine chirurgische Erfahrung in allen Bereichen der Augenchirurgie mit einem strukturierten und modernen Ansatz.
Das Spezialisierungsverfahren wurde von der Europäischen Gemeinschaft anerkannt und vom italienischen Gesundheitsministerium mit der Vergabe der Spezialisierung auf Augenheilkunde an der Universität Mailand validiert, wobei eine experimentelle Arbeit mit Prof. Rosario Brancato diskutiert wurde.
FORSCHUNGSDOKTORAT
Am St. Thomas Hospital in London arbeitete er mit Prof. John Marshall, dem Vater der laserrefraktiven Chirurgie, für einen Doktortitel in Augenbiomechanik. Durch die Einführung der Anwendung einer neuen Technik in der Augenheilkunde auf der Basis der Speckle-Interferometrie konnten erstmals die durch die LASIK-Operation an der Hornhaut hervorgerufenen Veränderungen mit einer nicht-invasiven Technik qualitativ bewertet werden. 1999 führte er klinische Studien zur Laserchirurgie zur Korrektur von Myopie, Weitsichtigkeit und Astigmatismus durch, die von der amerikanischen FDA zugelassen wurden.

Bei Moorfields hat er besondere Erfahrungen in der Behandlung komplexer Pathologien der Hornhaut gesammelt, sowohl in Bezug auf die chirurgische (Hornhauttransplantation) als auch die medizinische Behandlung. Es wurde auch mit fortschrittlicheren Lasertechniken und -geräten zur Korrektur von Myopie, Hyperopie und Astigmatismus betrieben. Dr. Sciscio hat speziell komplexe Kataraktoperationen wie nach Hornhauttransplantation, Uveitis (Entzündung) und nach Glaukomoperationen durchgeführt.
Oftalmoplastich
Dr. Sciscio hat langjährige und detaillierte Erfahrungen auf dem Gebiet der Augenplastik gesammelt. Dank der eingehenden Lehre unter der Schirmherrschaft von Prof. Richard Collin, der als einer der Begründer der europäischen Augenchirurgie gilt, konnte sich Dr. Sciscio mit der Verwaltung einer besonders komplexen Fallserie befassen. Es befasst sich mit der Korrektur der angeborenen und erworbenen Deformität der Augenlider (Ptosis, Ektropium und Entropium); und auch des Managements von der Entfernung bis zur Rekonstruktion von Lidtumoren mit den fortschrittlichsten Techniken. Praktiziert Tränenoperationen sowohl im pädiatrischen als auch im Erwachsenenalter, um Tränenprobleme zu beheben; und behandelt Probleme in Bezug auf die Orbita sowohl aus medizinischer als auch aus chirurgischer Sicht bei Krankheiten wie Gesichtslähmung, Augenproblemen im Zusammenhang mit Schilddrüsen- und Orbitentumoren.
Dr. Sciscio praktiziert regelmäßig ambulant Augenlid-Schönheitsoperationen mit modernen Blepharoplastik-Techniken (Korrektur von Haut-Ptosis und -Beuteln) unter örtlicher Betäubung. Die Operation wird in vielen Fällen durch nicht-chirurgische Techniken wie die Injektion der sogenannten “Füllstoffe” auf Hyaluronsäure- und Botox-Basis zur Korrektur von Falten oder statischen Depressionen bzw. Expressionslinien sowie von Peelings zur Behandlung von Veränderungen unterstützt oberflächliche Entartung der Augenlidhaut.

Dr. Sciscio hat insbesondere die Verbreitung von Wissen gefördert und stets jede Gelegenheit in der Klinik und im Operationssaal genutzt, um jüngere Kollegen sowohl theoretisch als auch praktisch zu unterrichten.
